The Botanical Gardens Council is a Polish primary association of botanical gardens. For a garden to officially qualify as a "botanical garden", it must first be registered as such with the Ministry of the Environment. Thirty two gardens are currently associated and registered with the Ministry. Botanical Gardens Council meetings are held once a year. The current chairman is Prof. Jerzy Puchalski, Director of the Botanical Garden - Center for Biological Diversity Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Powsin.
